HIGHLIGHTS
Sarkis Melikian was a shepherd, in contrast to his more accomplished brothers, two of whom were college graduates. He had two sons, Bedros and Nahabed, and six grandchildren. Two grandsons moved to the US in 1911, before the Genocide, to work in a coal mine in Texas along with a cousin. Another grandson lost his wife and son in the Genocide when they were deported and died en route in the desert. Two grandchildren relocated to France, and another to Romania.
